Great Ife Students' Union Symposium Emphasizes Student Balance
In a recent symposium held by the Great Ife Students' Union, the President, Abass Ojo, warmly welcomed new students to the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University. He expressed gratitude for the presence of esteemed speakers, including Mrs. Oluneye Oluwole, and assured the newcomers that the students' union is committed to supporting them in all aspects of their campus life – emotionally, physically, and financially.
The Vice President, Omoyosola Boluwatife, delivered a welcoming address during the symposium at the Oduduwa Hall of Obafemi Awolowo University, commending the Freshmen for their participation in the Fresher's Week event. She acknowledged the students' dedication in making time for the event despite their busy schedules and encouraged them to engage in various campus groups, movements, and associations that align with their interests and passions.

Mrs. Oluneye Oluwole, the CEO of Story Chest, congratulated the new students as they embarked on their university journey at Obafemi Awolowo University. In her keynote speech, she stressed the importance of finding equilibrium and balance during one's time on campus, emphasizing the need to strike a balance between academic excellence, personal growth, and social connections. Mrs. Oluneye advised the students to set goals, manage their time effectively, and plan their academic pursuits.
She also highlighted the significance of Leadership Development, Cultural Engagement, and Wellness during the student years, urging students to learn from setbacks. Mrs. Oluneye emphasized the importance of resilience, mental health, and self-reflection as key components in transforming adversities into opportunities. Furthermore, she encouraged students to surround themselves with peers who can aid them in achieving their goals and to nurture their spiritual life, regardless of their religious beliefs.
Dr. Seun Fakorede, the former Commissioner of Youth and Sport in Oyo State, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of building a network of quality relationships. He urged students to establish meaningful connections with peers who could support their future endeavors, rather than succumbing to arrogance. Dr. Fakorede stressed that excellence is attainable at all levels and encouraged students to demonstrate leadership qualities, a willingness to take initiative, and effective storytelling.
He also emphasized the value of utilizing social media as a tool to showcase their experiences during their time at OAU and in the future.

In recognition of their contributions, Awards of Excellence were presented to the founder of OluneyeSpeaks, Mrs. Oluneye Oluwole, and the former Commissioner of Youth and Sport in Oyo State, Dr. Seun Fakorede.
