Williams' journey was marred by adversity as her parents' divorce during her teenage years disrupted her high school education, forcing her to prioritize supporting her family through employment.
Reflecting on her past, Williams confided in The Philadelphia Inquirer, saying, "I felt bad for myself for leaving school and watching my classmates graduate, but I was working. My main priority was to survive."
Over the years, she toiled in various roles in the hospitality, healthcare, and fast-food industries, sacrificing her education for the well-being of her loved ones. However, the graduations of her two daughters and four grandchildren served as poignant reminders of her unfulfilled educational aspirations.
