In a remarkable display of sportsmanship and skill, the Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) contingent has returned triumphantly from the 5th South East University Games (SEUGA) held at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. The team's outstanding performance secured them one silver and five bronze medals across multiple disciplines including Chess, Scrabble, and football.

Led by Dr. Felix Obiukwu, the team leader and President South East SEUGA, ABSU's athletes showcased their prowess in a fiercely competitive environment. In football, ABSU's journey to success was marked by a hard-fought victory against FUTO with a score of 2-1, a narrow loss to ESUT with a score of 0-1, and a resilient draw against UNIZIK. Despite a semi-final loss to UNN on penalties, ABSU emerged triumphant in the third-place match against FUNAI, securing the bronze medal.

Dr. Obiukwu expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu, for his unwavering support. He also highlighted ABSU's recognition as the best-behaved team of the tournament, reflecting the university's commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

The Vice-Chancellor also took the opportunity to celebrate ABSU's recent academic achievements, including outstanding performances in professional examinations and certifications. He attributed these successes to the conducive learning environment provided by the administration under his leadership, as well as the support of the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Chioma Alex Otti OFR.

The meeting, attended by prominent university officials including Professor Udo Nwokocha, chairman of the Senate committee on sports, served as a testament to ABSU's commitment to holistic development and excellence in all spheres of academia and sports.
