ABU Scholars Inducted as SAN Fellows at 56th Conference
The induction ceremony was conducted by the outgoing SAN President, Prof. Abba Hamza, who commended the new fellows for their contributions to the scientific community.
Professors Danladi A. Ameh, Maryam Aminu, and Abdulraheem Giwa from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, have been inducted as fellows of the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN) at the 56th SAN Conference held at the Federal University, Lokoja.
Prof. Ameh, a faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at ABU, was honored alongside Prof. Maryam Aminu, the Dean of Life Sciences, and Prof. Abdulraheem Giwa from the Department of Textile and Polymer Engineering.
The induction ceremony was conducted by the outgoing SAN President, Prof. Abba Hamza, who commended the new fellows for their contributions to the scientific community. The conference also featured a keynote lecture by Prof. Abubakar A. Sambo on the theme “Science and Technology in Promoting Energy Mix and Food Security for National Development.”
The event concluded with the election of new SAN leadership, where Prof. A.A. Ogunjobi of the University of Ibadan was elected President, and Prof. Maryam Aminu was elected Vice-President. Several ABU scholars, including Prof. Abdulraheem Giwa, Prof. Yakubu Obadaki, and Prof. Hafsat Ronke Saliu, were re-elected to the SAN Council, along with newly inducted members from ABU.
