AE-FUNAI Governing Council Approves Promotion of Five Professors, Eight Readers
The Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has approved the promotion of 13 academic staff during its 48th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has approved the promotion of 13 academic staff during its 48th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The council approved the promotion of five academic staff to the rank of professor, eight to the rank of reader, and also regularised the appointment of one academic as professor.
The newly promoted professors are Agboti Christian Iheanacho (Professor of Industrial Sociology), Anochiwa Lasbery Ifeanyichukwu (Professor of Energy Economics), Ugwu Joy Nnonyelum (Professor of Human Resource Management), Ibiam Okechukwu Egwu (Professor of Development Studies), and Uduma Ngozi Eje (Professor of Digital Studies).
The council also regularised the appointment of Ossai Edmund Ndudi as Professor of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases.
The newly promoted readers are Dr. Nkwo Adachukwu Nwaka (Industrial Chemistry), Dr. Okwuowulu Charles Chinonso (Film Studies), Dr. Okafor Chiedozie Okechukwu (Social Psychology), Dr. Nkwo Nelson (Banking), Dr. Nwankwo Onyinye Anne (Applied Linguistics and Igbo Studies), Dr. Tyopine Andrew Aondoaver (Analytical and Environmental Chemistry), Dr. Amadi Solomon Okechukwu (Atmospheric Physics), and Dr. Ogbu Chukwuka Nwachukwu (Post-Colonial African Literature).

Commenting on the promotions, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Nwachukwu, congratulated the beneficiaries and described the exercise as transparent and strictly merit-based.
He stated that the promotions reflect the university's commitment to excellence, fairness, and transparency, assuring staff that qualified personnel would continue to receive promotions as and when due.
The Vice-Chancellor also urged the newly promoted professors and readers to embrace greater responsibilities in teaching, research, and community service while contributing to the university's vision of becoming a globally competitive institution.
