The Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has announced the commencement of applications for admission into its Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s, and Doctorate (Ph.D.) programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All candidates must have at least five (5) credit passes at not more than two sittings in WASSCE, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, including English Language.
2. Candidates seeking admission into faculties such as Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture, Education, and Humanities must have a credit pass in Mathematics.
3. Graduates of AE-FUNAI or any other recognized university with the required qualifications are eligible to apply.

SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

• Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree with at least Third-Class Honours or its equivalent from AE-FUNAI or another recognized institution.
• Holders of HND (Upper or Lower Credit) are also eligible.
• Candidates with other acceptable qualifications recognized by the University Senate may be considered.

2. Master’s Degree (M.Sc.)

• Candidates must possess at least a Second-Class Lower Division Bachelor’s Degree in relevant disciplines.
• Candidates with relevant PGD qualifications from AE-FUNAI or other recognized universities with minimum CGPA of 2.5/5.0 or 3.0/4.0 may be admitted.
• Candidates with unclassified First Degrees but at least 60% average score (B level) may also qualify.

3. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

• Candidates must hold an appropriate Master’s Degree with minimum CGPA of 3.5/5.0 or 4.0/4.0 from AE-FUNAI or other recognized universities.
• Candidates with at least B level (60% average) at Master’s level, provided research formed part of their programme, are also eligible.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1. O’level passes in English and Mathematics are compulsory for all candidates.
2. Accountancy and Business Administration applicants must also have credit in Economics.
3. Science-based programmes require credit in Physics, Chemistry, and/or Biology/Agriculture as relevant.
4. Mass Communication applicants must have credit in Literature-in-English.

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

• Full-Time: Minimum of 2 semesters, Maximum of 4 semesters
• Part-Time: Minimum of 3 semesters, Maximum of 6 semesters

Master’s Degree (M.Sc.)

• Full-Time: Minimum of 3 semesters, Maximum of 6 semesters
• Part-Time: Minimum of 4 semesters, Maximum of 8 semesters

Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.)

• Full-Time: Minimum of 6 semesters, Maximum of 10 semesters
• Part-Time: Minimum of 8 semesters, Maximum of 12 semesters

METHOD OF APPLICATION

1. Visit the official AE-FUNAI website: https://www.funai.edu.ng
2. Click on PORTAL in the Main Menu, then select 2025/2026 PG Application.
3. Enter your mobile number and click Submit.
4. Complete the Invoice Registration Form and generate an invoice for the ₦24,000 non-refundable application fee.
5. Print the invoice slip and make payment at any commercial bank or pay directly online via debit card.
6. Return to the portal and complete the online application form.

SUBMISSION OF REFEREE REPORTS

• Candidates must download and distribute Referee Report Forms to three referees (one of whom must be a former lecturer).
• Completed referee reports must be returned in sealed envelopes addressed to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, AE-FUNAI, and enclosed in the application package.
• Applications without referee reports will not be processed.

FORWARDING OF ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS

• Candidates must download the Academic Transcript Request Slip from the portal and send it to their previous institutions.
• Transcripts should be forwarded directly to:

• Soft copies may also be sent to: spgs@funai.edu.ng
• Transcripts must be received within two weeks from the closing date of the application.
