Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, revealed in a recent interview titled 'The Journey of Success @ 94' that he initially struggled academically until a trained teacher intervened. In the interview with storytellermedia, Babalola highlighted his early dislike for school and the transformative impact of a teacher who studied child psychology.

Babalola narrated how, as a child preferring farm work over school, he lacked concentration in the classroom due to discouraging school rules. He credited a trained teacher from St. Andrew College, knowledgeable in child psychology, for recognizing students like him who were not concentrating.
