Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, Afe Babalola urged journalists to fearlessly challenge inefficiencies in governance.

He highlighted the media's potency as a tool to combat corruption and ensure transparency, urging journalists not to succumb to intimidation but to uphold the truth in their reportage.

Addressing concerns about media ownership, Afe Babalola cautioned against falsehoods in reporting, emphasizing the legal principle of truth as a defense against libel. He expressed awareness of the challenges facing Nigeria daily, urging for concerted efforts in addressing national issues.

In response, NUJ Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, praised ABUAD's global academic standing under Afe Babalola's leadership and urged for continued support towards enhancing journalism standards, including the establishment of an Ultramodern Press Centre.

Dr. Adebola Agbaje of Progress FM, Ado-Ekiti, commended Afe Babalola for his support of journalism and described him as a father figure to journalists.
