Agriculture Minister commissions Multicrop Seed Processing Plant, Dairy Complex, Biotechnology Laboratory, others in ABU

Other projects commissioned in the University by the Minister are Multicrop Seed Processing Plant at the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Skills Acquisition Centre at the National Agricultural Extension Research Liaison Services (NAERLS), and rehabilitation works at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Agriculture Minister commissions Multicrop Seed Processing Plant, Dairy Complex, Biotechnology Laboratory, others in ABU

The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammed Mahmood Abubakar, today commissioned Dairy Complex and Biotechnology Laboratory at the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Ahmadu Bello University. 

Other projects commissioned in the University by the Minister are Multicrop Seed Processing Plant at the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Skills Acquisition Centre at the National Agricultural Extension Research Liaison Services (NAERLS), and rehabilitation works at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. 

The Minister was also taken round some facilities at the Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT), National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. 

On arrival at the University, the Hon. Minister and his entourage were received by members of the University Management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala. 

Speaking when he met members of the University Management and other key staff of the University at the Senate Chamber, the Minister explained that he always considered ABU a home. 

Dr. Mahmood said that the only University he had wanted to attend since he was in primary and secondary schools was ABU, adding that as God would have it, he ended up studying in the United States. 

The Minister described ABU as an apex university as the institution’s name had resonated all over the world. 

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, described the Minister as a patriot and a friend of the University, and expressed confidence that the Minister was more at home in ABU than anywhere else in Nigeria.

He said that it was significant that the Minister was visiting ABU as the University was celebrating its 60th anniversary while some of its units in the Veterinary – Agriculture complex were celebrating their 100 years of service to Nigeria.
