Ahmadu Bello University Hosts ECOWAS Sorghum Production Training

On Thursday, July 11th, 2024, the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) at Ahmadu Bello University hosted a one-day agro-ecology programme focused on pre-season training for sorghum production. The event took place at the IAR Conference Hall and began with opening remarks from Prof. Ado Yusuf, Executive Director, represented by Deputy Director Prof. Nafiu Abdu.
The programme, expertly coordinated by Lead Consultant Prof. Aisha Abdulkadir, featured insights from esteemed resource persons Prof. Hamza Mani and Dr. Maryam Shehu Usman on sorghum production. Key figures including Prof. L.J. Bamaiyi, Assistant Director Research, and Dr. A.S. Isah, Programme Leader of the Farming System Research Programme, actively participated along with staff from the Agricultural Extension Unit led by Dr. S.M. Yahaya.
This training represents a significant effort to improve sorghum production practices, ensuring a productive and sustainable growing season ahead.
