Ahmadu Bello University Secondary School, Zaria, celebrated the graduation of its 2024 class on Saturday, October 5, at the school's premises. The event, which also featured a speech and prize-giving ceremony, marked a significant milestone for the students.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Prof. Kabiru Bala, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Abdullahi Dalhatu, urged the graduates to continue following the guidance of their teachers and parents in order to excel in their future endeavors. He commended the school for maintaining its educational standards.

The Dean of Student Affairs and Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Sahalu Junaidu, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to uphold the values of the school and Ahmadu Bello University as they move forward. He also expressed hope for their positive contributions to society.

In his remarks, the school’s Principal, Prof. Abubakar Ismaila Shika, shared that 89 students scored 200 and above in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams, with 10 students scoring over 300. The highest scorer achieved a remarkable 352.

The keynote speaker, Director of the Institute of Education, Prof. Abubakar Jumare, discussed the pressing issues facing secondary education, such as bullying and exam malpractice. He emphasized the importance of collective action by the government, parents, and teachers to restore discipline and high standards in schools.

The event was attended by dignitaries, parents, and teachers, who celebrated the achievements of the graduating class.
