Ajayi Crowther University Dispels Rumors, Affirms Commitment to Justice

The school authorities have dismissed the rumors of hindering justice and clarified that actions have been taken and an investigation is underway. They also disclosed that the ongoing rape case involving a student and the institution’s security guards is being legally addressed.

Following the outrage regarding the murder at Ajayi Crowther University(ACU), both the University administration and the Student Assembly have refuted the false information suggesting that the university is attempting to conceal the murder case. 

Akro Jeffrey Chamuke, the victim, was reportedly killed in an alleged phone theft incident. Reports suggest that the deceased student was subjected to a lengthy assault that started around 6pm on Friday and lasted until about 10am on Saturday.

The tragic incident has evoked widespread outrage among Nigerians, particularly due to the prolonged silence from the school authorities, leading to concerns about the University's commitment to delivering justice.

However, the school authorities have dismissed the rumors of hindering justice and clarified that actions have been taken and an investigation is underway. They also disclosed that the ongoing rape case involving a student and the institution’s security guards is being legally addressed. 

This information was shared on the official page of the Ajayi Crowther University Student Assembly via X, where they tweeted @Official_acusa, “we confirm that most of the statements are untrue and aimed at tarnishing the reputation of our school and its management. The rape case and the death of AKR Jeffrey Chamuke are not being covered up”

Furthermore, the body disclosed that the vice chancellor and the University administration are dedicated to ensuring that justice is served. “The Vice Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University did not ban phones. Instead, he shared his contact number to be more accessible to students. The university is committed to ensuring justice for Akro Jeffrey Chamuke and is not covering up his death”, they stated.
