AKCILS Acting Provost Visits KHAIRUN VC, Seeks Stronger Institutional Ties

The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, AKCILS, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, has paid an official working visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, KHAIRUN, Professor Abdurrashid Garba, as part of efforts to strengthen relations and promote academic collaboration between the two neighbouring institutions.

Speaking during the visit on Monday, August 11, 2026, Dr. Mu’az said the visit was to formally introduce himself to the leadership of KHAIRUN following his appointment as Acting Provost of AKCILS.

“I am here to formally introduce myself to the leadership of the university. Being a neighbour, I have to come to visit you and formally introduce myself to you,” he said.

Dr. Mu’az also recalled the history of the establishment of KHAIRUN and acknowledged the contributions of some personalities, including himself, towards the actualisation of the university.

He noted his personal relationship with the Vice-Chancellor, stating that Professor Garba was his teacher during his university education.

“You were my teacher at the university. That is why I am here, to formally pay you homage and to ensure my respect to your humble personality as my teacher,” Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az stated.

He further expressed his desire to strengthen the relationship between AKCILS and KHAIRUN, particularly through academic cooperation and exchange of ideas that would benefit both institutions.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of KHAIRUN, Professor Abdurrashid Garba, expressed appreciation to the Acting Provost for the visit and commended him for the initiatives and programmes introduced since assuming office.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the initiatives would contribute significantly to the development of the College and position Dr. Mu’az for greater responsibilities when eventually confirmed as Provost.

Professor Garba particularly commended the Acting Provost for initiating new academic programmes at AKCILS, including the Professional Diploma in Hisbah and Imama, describing them as important steps towards expanding the academic profile and relevance of the College.

He also expressed the readiness of KHAIRUN management to strengthen its cordial relationship with AKCILS and explore areas of academic collaboration. He specifically expressed interest in collaboration in Qur’anic Studies, noting its potential for both institutions to advance scholarship, research, and knowledge in the field.

The visit ended with both institutions expressing commitment to maintaining the established cordial relationship and exploring practical areas of academic collaboration for mutual benefit.
