African-American singer Aliaune Damala Badara, famously known as Akon, is set to fulfill a shared dream with the late Michael Jackson by establishing educational institutions in Africa. Akon recently revealed that he and Michael Jackson had envisioned creating a significant impact on the lives of African students through collaborative efforts.

"He was a big star as a child. He didn’t get a chance to go to the carnival, go to the movies, eat candy, like things that kids naturally did, so when he got older, he surrounded himself with all those kiddish things that he never had a chance to be at," Akon shared.
Despite Jackson's untimely passing, Akon is committed to realizing their shared vision. The singer, who is actively working on the $4 billion tech city "Akon City" in Senegal, plans to establish a university in the city's Educational District. Akon intends to name the university "MJ University" in honor of Michael Jackson's legacy.

Reflecting on their initial plans, Akon disclosed that they had envisioned music schools where children could learn to play instruments, receive vocal coaching, and gain insights into the music business and entertainment. By naming the university after Michael Jackson and incorporating these educational elements, Akon aims to create a lasting impact on the development of young talents.
"Even in Akon City in the educational district, the first one will be built in there, and I’m naming it after the Michael Jackson Foundation. So I’m gonna be naming it MJ University," Akon affirmed.
