The Management of the Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) have released the approved requirements for admission into any programme of the University.

Admission into the Department shall be through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) or Direct Entry. The candidate must be over 16 years of age by 1st October in the year of admission.

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME)

Any candidate seeking admission through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) may qualify for admission into the Department of Crop Science by satisfying the following conditions:

(a) Obtain a score in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) of not less than annual minimum score required in the following subjects by the University:

English language, Chemistry, Biology, or Agricultural Science and Physics or Mathematics and a satisfactory total point in Akwa Ibom State University Post-UTME Screening (Aptitude Test).

(b) Possesses one of the following qualifications:

 i. West African School Certificate with minimum credit passes and above in at least five subjects including: 

1) English Language

2) Agricultural Science or Biology

3) Chemistry

4) Physics or Mathematics

5) Economics or Geography at not more than 2 sittings. 

ii. General Certificate of Education (GCE) with minimum of credit passes at ordinary “O’’ level in at least five subjects including English Language, Agricultural Science or Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics and Economics or Geography at not more than 2 sittings.

iii. Senior Secondary School Certificate (WASSC/NABTED) with minimum of credit passes in at least five subjects including English Language, Agricultural Science or Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics and Economics or Geography at not more than 2 sittings.
