Aleruchi, three others dedicate award to Fulafia VC Abdul Rahman

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Aleruchi Chuku, along with the directors of gender and development studies, and Centre for cultural studies, Prof. Halima Idris Amali and Prof. Zara E. Kwaghe, respectively, Head of ICT, Saratu Haruna, presented their award to the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman.

Aleruchi who spoke on behalf of the awardees appreciated the vice-chancellor for encouraging them to attend the award ceremony, saying that "we received the nomination separately and from our discussion, we were all reluctant to attend the event because we didn't know about the academy, but you encouraged us to attend."

It would be recalled that on April 19, 2024, the Advanced Management Academy, Abuja, Nigeria, in its 2024 edition of the International Women's Day Conference with the theme 'Inspire Inclusion: Strategies for Action' conferred different awards to notable Nigerian women, within home and abroad, who have contributed to the country’s development.

The awardees, drawn from the health, politics, education, maritime, law and many other fields, had Aleruchi, Halima, Zara and Saratu from the FULafia.

Aleruchi said that the awardees decided to dedicate their awards to the vice-chancellor because for his impactful leadership style.

While responding, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, said, "you all deserve these awards," adding that the awards were value addition to the University.

Abdul Rahman applauded the awardees, saying that it was an affirmation that the women were doing their work well. 

He urged them to work harder, adding that "you can see your number is increasing everyday, just recently we appointed two other women to handle some positions."

The presentation of the awards took place at the vice-chancellor's office in Lafia.
