Anambra Education Sector Protests for Restoration of Wage Award Amid Economic Hardship

Led by Mr. Humphery Nwafor, Anambra State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), educators and school staff gathered in Awka, the state capital, to voice their concerns over the dire financial circumstances facing both workers and the broader community.

The wage award, initiated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo at N12,000 per worker for a four-month period starting in September, was initially welcomed as a lifeline for educators grappling with rising living costs.
