Asuu Abia Varsity Says Strike Continues Until Suspended Professor Is Recalled

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Abia State University chapter, has said it will not suspend its ongoing strike until a suspended professor is recalled and other outstanding demands are addressed.

The Chairman of ASUU Abia State University, Dr. Chidi Mbah, stated this while speaking on the union’s position on the industrial action.

According to Dr. Mbah, the recall of the suspended professor remains a key condition for the union to consider ending the strike. He added that other demands previously presented to the university management must also be resolved.

The union chairman stressed that the action is aimed at protecting academic freedom, due process and the welfare of staff at the institution.

Efforts to get a reaction from the management of Abia State University on the latest position of ASUU were ongoing at the time of filing this report.

The strike has affected academic activities at the university, with students and parents calling for urgent resolution of the issues to allow for the resumption of normal academic work.
