ATBU SUG Supervises Solar Water Project and Power Restoration at Gubi Campus

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) has conducted an extensive oversight visit to the Gubi Campus to address critical infrastructure and welfare concerns.

During the visit, the team supervised the installation of solar panels that will be connected to the campus water system. This project is aimed at providing a lasting solution to the long-standing water challenges experienced whenever there is power outage, as the system has been solely dependent on electricity. We are confident that this intervention will greatly improve water availability, and students will surely appreciate its impact.

In addition, the SUG has been actively engaging the school management concerning the recent power outages at the campus. We are pleased to inform students that management gave assurances, and the power supply was restored today not long after their arrival.

The team also went round the hostels to monitor the ongoing clearance process. In the course of this, it was officially introduced that NELFUND beneficiaries should also be cleared using their hostel policy slip as they do not have a remita slip to ensure inclusiveness and a smooth accommodation process.

Furthermore, several major and minor complaints were noted during the hostel inspection. These include plumbing issues in the CBN hostels’ toilets affecting both male and female sections, and also the water leakage at the Tetfund block that's eroding the walls. Complaints were also received from medical students whose academic activities have fully resumed but are still facing hostel bookings related challenges, alongside concerns raised by students from other faculties.

All observations and complaints have been duly documented, and the SUG remains committed to engaging the appropriate authorities to ensure timely resolution in the best interest of all students.
