The Vice-Chancellor of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Professor Christopher Odetunde, has emphasized the importance of character building and academic excellence to candidates seeking admission into the institution. This advice was delivered on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, during the undergraduate admission screening exercise for the 2024/2025 academic session.
During the screening, which assesses students' academic records and readiness for their chosen courses, Professor Odetunde highlighted the university’s commitment to instilling both learning and character in its students, as reflected in the institution's motto.
He also advised prospective students to avoid drug abuse and other social vices, underscoring the university’s zero tolerance for activities that disrupt campus peace, including drug abuse, theft, hooliganism, and cultism. He urged them to embrace the values of hard work, discipline, and moderation to achieve academic success and avoid potential setbacks.
Professor Odetunde also commended the parents and guardians who accompanied their wards to the screening, noting their role in supporting the candidates' academic pursuits.
The screening exercise, taking place on the university campus, is expected to span several days, offering candidates the chance to secure admission for the upcoming academic session.
