Bayero University Kano Students Seek Clarification on NELFUND Loan Agreement

Students of Bayero University Kano (BUK) have brought a pressing matter concerning the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) agreement to the attention of the Student Union Government (SUG) President.

The students are concerned about the loan tenure, which is currently reflected as a calendar year rather than an academic session on the loan dashboard.

The students assert that the loan agreement specifies a 12-month tenure, and they believe full payment within this timeframe is a right, not a privilege.

Bayero University Kano has been a significant beneficiary of NELFUND, with 11,683 students approved to receive ₦1.3 billion in loans. The university has also received additional funding, including ₦200 million allocated to support students .

The students hope that the SUG President's intervention will ensure that NELFUND honors the terms of the loan agreement, allowing them to fulfill their payment obligations within the specified timeframe .
