Beloved FULOKOJA Lecturer Dr. Oluwakemi Mercy Laid to Rest in Emotional Ceremony

The remains of Dr. Oluwakemi Mercy Emmanuel-Olowonubi, a dedicated lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), were laid to rest in a solemn ceremony at her residence in Lokoja. Dr. Emmanuel-Olowonubi tragically lost her life in a fatal trailer accident along the Crusher-Felele road on October 22, 2025.

The university community, including students, colleagues, and management, paid their last respects to the deceased, describing her as a shining light whose sudden departure has left a void ¹. Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi led the management to the farewell ceremony, eulogizing the late lecturer for her impactful life and contributions to the university.

Dr. Emmanuel-Olowonubi's legacy as a passionate educator and mentor continues to inspire her students and colleagues. Her untimely death has sparked an outpouring of grief and calls for improved road safety measures along the notorious Crusher-Felele road .
