Dr. Bello Galadanchi ‘Dan Bello’: US-Born Kano Son Using Hausa Satire to Challenge Corruption
Dr. Bello Galadanchi, popularly known as Dan Bello, is emerging as one of the most notable Hausa voices on social media, using satire to challenge corruption and demand better governance for Nigerians.
Dan Bello is a journalist, filmmaker, educator, social commentator and satirist. Born in Pennsylvania, USA, to a family with roots in Kano State, he grew up between Nigerian and American experiences. He studied Bioengineering and Classical History at Pennsylvania State University.
He later built a career spanning journalism, filmmaking, education and digital media, and has worked with international media including VOA Hausa and BBC Hausa.
Today, while working as an educationist in China, he uses Hausa comedy and satire to discuss issues affecting ordinary Nigerians, from corruption and poor public services to political accountability and bad governance.
Behind the humour is a deliberate mission. Bello maintains that satire can educate citizens politically and help them understand how to hold leaders accountable. He aims to increase public awareness and push leaders to do better.

His satirical investigations and political commentaries have at times drawn controversy, especially when they target powerful individuals. He continues, however, to use humour to question authority and highlight issues that might otherwise be ignored.
In recent years, his influence has grown significantly among young people in Northern Nigeria and across the wider Hausa-speaking community. His content blends journalism, humour, education and advocacy, turning complex social and political issues into stories that ordinary people can easily understand.
