Benson Idahosa University (BIU) has celebrated a major success as students from the Department of Nursing Science passed the March 2025 Post Basic Midwifery Professional Examination, highlighting the institution’s commitment to excellence in healthcare education.

The Post Basic Midwifery Professional Examination is a crucial requirement for becoming a registered midwife in Nigeria. Successful candidates are authorized to practice professionally, providing essential care to women and newborns while upholding healthcare standards.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor John A. Okhuoya, commended the students and the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences for their diligence. “This achievement reflects the hard work of our students and the quality of training provided by our seasoned lecturers,” he said. “We are proud to contribute skilled midwives to the healthcare sector, addressing maternal and child health needs in Nigeria.”

Acting Head of the Nursing Department, Dr. (Mrs.) Josephine Ngozi Oko-Ose, attributed the success to rigorous academic preparation, hands-on clinical training, and continuous mentorship. “Our curriculum is designed to meet global standards, ensuring our graduates are competent and confident professionals,” she stated.
