Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved stipends and free daily meals for 90 students in Gajiganna town, as part of efforts to boost school enrollment in northern Borno, which has been devastated by over a decade of insurgency.

The governor's initiative aims to promote education in northern Borno, where enrollment rates are alarmingly low. With a population of 50,000 in Gajiganna, only 90 students were enrolled in secondary school, prompting the governor to describe the figure as alarming and demanding urgent attention .

Governor Zulum emphasized the need for deliberate measures to strengthen education in northern Borno, highlighting the region's lack of development in this area. The state government has established 20 similar colleges across local government areas to provide Almajiri with literacy and vocational skills .
