Borno State University Appoints Professor Babagana Gutti as New Vice Chancellor

Borno State University (BOSU) has officially appointed Professor Babagana Gutti as its second substantive Vice Chancellor, following a handover ceremony held on October 22, 2024. The event, which took place at the University Senate Chamber, was attended by intellectuals, associates, and colleagues who gathered to witness the leadership transition.
The outgoing acting VC, Professor H. D. Dlakwa, introduced Professor Gutti, commending his impressive credentials and leadership potential. He expressed gratitude to the university’s staff and students for their support during his tenure and encouraged them to extend the same cooperation to the new Vice Chancellor.
In his inaugural address, Professor Gutti thanked Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for the opportunity to serve BOSU and the state. He pledged to align with Borno State’s 25-year developmental plan and 10-year strategic plan through research and community service. Professor Gutti also acknowledged the support of the university’s governing council, Senate members, and staff, promising to unveil his plans for BOSU’s growth and development. He assured the university community that his administration would maintain an open-door policy, welcoming feedback and constructive criticism.
Professor Emeritus Abubakar Mustapha, acting chairman of the Governing Council, expressed confidence in Professor Gutti’s ability to meet the expectations of the university and the public, noting his capability to overcome challenges.
Speaking on behalf of Professor Gutti’s family, friends, and associates, Engr. Dr. Ali Yaumi thanked the governor, the governing council, and the entire university community. He assured them that Professor Gutti would work towards the common good of the institution in line with the vision of Governor Zulum and the university.
