The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) in Ekiti State has taken decisive action against bullying, expelling two students from its Mass Communication department following an incident captured in a viral video. The management's decision came after a disciplinary committee investigated an episode of bullying that occurred on Sunday in one of the university hostels.

Opemiposi Precious, a 100-level Mass Communication student, faced expulsion for physically assaulting her fellow student, while Genesis Osaro was expelled for providing the implement used in the assault, as per reports. The victim, Gloria Ajayi, was subjected to violence despite pleas for mercy, with the assailant citing a perceived betrayal related to a romantic relationship.

The university's Public Relations Officer, Temitope Akinbisoye, emphasized the institution's commitment to upholding its values and maintaining a safe environment for all students. Akinbisoye reiterated the university's zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline and violence, urging prompt reporting of any such incidents to appropriate authorities.

In response to the incident, the police commissioner of Ekiti State, Adeniran Akinwale, has ordered an investigation into the assault and molestation of the student. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, assured the public of the police force's commitment to ensuring justice is served.

The statement further urged calm within the student community and among the general public, emphasizing the importance of allowing the legal process to take its course.
