Buhari Urges Nigerian Universities to Go Global at BUK's Combined Convocation
In a recent speech at the 36th and 37th combined convocation of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari urged universities in the country to prioritize global competitiveness monitored by myschoolnews.
The president emphasized the importance of higher education in driving development and innovation, and noted that Nigerian universities must strive to produce graduates who can compete at the international level.
Buhari also praised BUK for its efforts to improve its academic standards and research capabilities, and encouraged other universities in the country to follow suit. He stated that the federal government is committed to supporting universities in Nigeria to achieve their goals, and will continue to invest in education.
The convocation ceremony saw the graduation of over 8,000 students, including 78 PhD holders, and the conferment of honorary degrees on several distinguished Nigerians, including a former governor and a prominent business leader.
The BUK Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, expressed gratitude to the President and other dignitaries who attended the event, and reiterated the university's commitment to promoting academic excellence and community development.
