BUK Extends Hostel Closure Date; Sets Guidelines for Students on Industrial Training

The Deanery of Student Affairs at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has announced a two-week extension for students residing in university hostels to vacate their premises following the conclusion of the 2024/2025 academic session.

In an official announcement dated March 4, 2026, signed by the Dean, Professor Mukhtar Ridwanu Bunza, the university confirmed that examinations for the current session are scheduled to conclude on March 10, 2026.

New Vacation Deadline

While hostels traditionally close shortly after exams, the Deanery has shifted the mandatory vacation date to March 24, 2026. This extension is intended to allow students sufficient time to conclude their end-of-semester activities before the hostels are officially shuttered for the break.

Provisions for Special Academic Categories

The university has made specific provisions for students required to remain on campus for ongoing academic components. Students participating in the following programs are eligible to apply for continued residency:

SIWES / Industrial Training (IT)

Teaching Practice (TP)

Student Work Experience Program (SWEP)

Application Process for Bed Spaces

Affected students are instructed to visit the Deanery of Student Affairs for re-application and registration. To be considered for a bed space during the break, students must first obtain a formal clearance letter from their respective Heads of Department.

This directive aims to ensure a structured and secure management of campus facilities during the holiday period while supporting students with extended academic obligations.
