BUK Hosts First Circle 2024 Foreign Pharmacy Graduates Orientation Program

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has hosted the first circle of the 2024 Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Orientation Programme (FPGOP).

This six-week orientation programme is designed for Nigerian pharmacists who obtained their undergraduate degrees from recognized institutions outside the country.

The programme, which commenced on Monday, April 22, 2024, is in line with the mandate of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN). Speaking at the occasion, the Registrar of PCN, Pharm. Ibrahim Baba Shehu Ahmad, emphasized the council's role as the regulatory body of the Federal Government under the Federal Ministry of Health, responsible for regulating pharmacy education, training, and practice.

At the end of the six-week training, participants will write examinations, and only those who qualify will be certified to practice pharmacy in Nigeria. This programme aims to ensure that foreign-trained pharmacists meet the necessary standards and requirements to practice in the country."
