BUK Law Students Excel in International Moot Court Competition
Two students from the Faculty of Law, Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Abu Darda Jibril Dauda and Mustapha Babalola, have made the university proud by excelling at the 32nd Christof Heyns Human Rights Moot Court Competition held in Ghana.

The competition, which took place at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, saw the two students representing BUK. Although they did not make it to the final round, they were recommended to participate in the forthcoming John Jackson Moot on WTO Laws in Kenya.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Abubakar Isa, briefed the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, on the students' excellent performance during a courtesy call on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. He also informed the Vice Chancellor that Rukayya Idris, a 300-level student, had been selected to represent the university in the Presidential Committee for Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform's Secretariat, an opportunity that has broadened her understanding of Nigeria's tax system.

Additionally, Yasir Abubakar, a final-year law student, was elected as the 6th President of the Law Students' Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), becoming the first from BUK and the second from the northern region. During his tenure, he revived the LAWSAN Journal of Law and Policy Review.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, commended the students and their lecturers for their achievements, attributing their success to the quality teaching and mentoring at BUK. He urged them to continue being good ambassadors of the university and presented them with souvenirs.
The Dean, Dr. Abubakar Isa, thanked the university management for their support, particularly in facilitating the intake of BUK law students into the Nigerian Law School."
