The Bayero University Kano (BUK) is set to confer honourary doctorate degrees on the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, and the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina. The ceremony will take place during the university's 38th convocation on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the New Campus in Kano.
Both the University’s Senate and Management have approved the award, as confirmed by the vice-chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, in a letter to Senator Barau. The nomination cites Senator Barau's significant contributions to education, youth development, and national legislation, including his sponsorship of numerous bills and his dedication to serving his constituents.
