CIG Motors is making significant strides in revolutionizing the automotive industry in Nigeria by launching a groundbreaking recruitment initiative aimed at empowering 1,000 first-class graduates annually. The company, which continues to expand its footprint across the country, recently recruited over 100 top-performing graduates from leading Nigerian universities through its CIG Knight Programme.
The CIG Knight Programme is a strategic initiative designed to bridge the unemployment gap by training and employing talented Nigerian graduates in automotive technology. The induction ceremony, which took place at the G-Style showroom, showcased the company's forward-thinking approach to mobility and its commitment to empowering Nigeria’s youth.
Jubril Arogundade, Executive Director of CIG Motors, delivered the keynote speech at the induction, emphasizing the company's role in driving change within Nigeria's automotive sector. He highlighted the disruptive nature of electric vehicles (EVs) and the need for innovative thinkers to fill infrastructural gaps in the industry.
Arogundade described the CIG Knight Programme as a highly competitive opportunity for first-class graduates and students with a 2:1 from Nigeria's top 10 universities. With a rigorous recruitment process involving aptitude tests, interviews, and presentations, over 1,800 applicants competed for spots, but only 100 were selected, exemplifying the programme’s focus on excellence, character, and dedication.
During the panel session, renowned actor Bisola Aiyeola inspired the inductees to embrace continuous learning and resilience. "To grow, we must be open to new experiences, challenges, and feedback," Aiyeola said, encouraging the new recruits to thrive in the growing automotive industry.
Mabel Adeteye, Head of Brands and Marketing Communications at WEMA Bank, urged the graduates to recognize their inherent value and push the boundaries of what they can achieve. She emphasized resilience as a key to building a successful career.
Similarly, Ifesinachi Okpagu, Chief Marketing Officer of Heirs Insurance, advised the inductees to adopt a proactive, problem-solving mindset. “Identifying problems before they arise and presenting solutions will help you stand out within your team," she noted.
The new CIG Knights will work closely with seasoned mentors and colleagues across departments such as Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, and Operations. This hands-on experience will equip them with the skills necessary to excel in the dynamic automotive sector.
