Community Urges Governor Sanwo-Olu to Reinstate Sacked LASU Lecturers

Residents of Ikoga-Zebbe Kingdom in Badagry Local Government Area have appealed to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu ,to intervene in the reinstatement of five lecturers sacked from Lagos State University (LASU) in 2019. In protest of the lecturers' dismissal, the community organized a protest demanding their unconditional reinstatement and payment of all accrued entitlements.

 Residents of Ikoga-Zebbe Kingdom in Badagry Local Government Area have appealed to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu ,to intervene in the reinstatement of five lecturers sacked from Lagos State University (LASU) in 2019.

These lecturers, all members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Lagos State chapter, faced allegations related to unauthorized handling of official confidential documents. The affected lecturers include,  Isaac Oyewumi, the union’s chairman, Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu, vice chairman, Dr. Tony Dansu, secretary, Adeolu Oluwaseyi Oyekan, assistant secretary and Oluwakemi Aboderin-Shonibare, treasurer.

In protest of the lecturers' dismissal, the community organized a protest demanding their unconditional reinstatement and payment of all accrued entitlements.

Despite letters and pleas for the lecturers’ reinstatement, the university spokesperson, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, clarified that the authority to reinstate the dismissed lecturers lies beyond the university’s purview. She stated, “I don’t think there has been a time the school asked them to return to work.”
