Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) received a significant achievement with the official flag off of a 100-hectare perimeter fencing project, aimed at enhancing security on campus. The ceremony, held at the university's Second Gate, was presided over by a government delegation led by Engr. Taiye Abanika, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development.

The event was not only a testament to CUSTECH's commitment to safety but also a response to recent security challenges, including the tragic incident in May where students were attacked, resulting in casualties. Commissioner Abanika, reflecting on this incident, emphasized the government's proactive stance under the leadership of Governor Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo in prioritizing security across Kogi State.

"The governor's swift action underscores his dedication to safeguarding lives and property," stated Commissioner Abanika. He highlighted Governor Ododo's directive to swiftly execute the perimeter fencing project as part of broader efforts to secure educational institutions in the state.

The contract for the project was awarded to RSA Global, a company tasked with completing the fencing and associated security infrastructure within 6 to 9 months. Engr. Suleiman Kabiru, the State Consultant, outlined the project's scope, which includes solar-powered street lights, CCTV cameras, and security watchtowers strategically placed along the perimeter.

In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Engr. Prof. Abdulrahaman Asipita Salawu expressed gratitude for the government's intervention, praising Governor Ododo for also initiating a hostel construction project to alleviate accommodation challenges at CUSTECH.
