The Faculty of Social Sciences Students’ Association (FOSSA), Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), has reaffirmed its role as a pace-setter in student leadership and development with the commissioning of landmark projects.

The Faculty of Social Sciences Students’ Association (FOSSA), Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), has reaffirmed its role as a pace-setter in student leadership and development with the commissioning of landmark projects.

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the outgoing President of the Association, Comr. Okwuchukwu Victor, led the commissioning of a new Faculty signpost. The signpost, unveiled by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Anthony Agụ, stands as a unifying symbol, bearing the names of all eight departments under the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Comr. Victor noted that the projects executed during his tenure were designed to leave lasting value for students. Over the years, FOSSA has undertaken several tangible initiatives, including:

  • Construction of sit-out areas within the Faculty.
  • Building of functional student toilets.
  • Establishment of a commercial hub to reduce students’ financial stress.
  • Procurement of a shuttle bus for affordable transportation.
  • Donation of security kits to the University’s security department.
  • Development of a Chamber for student-leader engagements.
  • Construction of a Senate Chamber to strengthen student governance.

The outgoing Senate President, Sen. Natalie Nwaobu, also joined the Dean and other student leaders in visiting various departments, where constituency-based projects were executed to ensure inclusivity across the Faculty.

These milestones, according to the leadership, resonate with the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, who has consistently emphasized her 3Vs agenda: Values, Viability, and Visibility.
