Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has taken a decisive step in advancing its technological frontier with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Digital Hands on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

The event, held at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, underscores the University’s commitment to digitalisation and technological excellence under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha.

The agreement was formalised with the presence of Digital Hands CEO, Engr. Nkem Orakwe, alongside Prof. K. K. Nwozor, and members of the University Management. The MoU aims to provide a structured framework for nurturing and empowering technologically inclined students, pushing them to innovate and apply their skills in real-world contexts.

Speaking at the signing, Engr. Orakwe commended Prof. Omenugha for her unwavering commitment to technological advancement. He highlighted that globally recognized digital solutions, such as Paystack, originated from small teams within universities, demonstrating the untapped potential in academic institutions. He affirmed that the partnership would challenge and equip students, fostering creativity and competence in technology-driven ventures.

In her remarks, Prof. Omenugha emphasised that COOU is strategically positioned on the path of technological innovation, and collaborations such as this would accelerate the University’s trajectory toward becoming a hub for digital solutions and innovation. She also acknowledged the role of Prof. John Paul Iloh, Director of ICT, for ensuring the agreement’s alignment with the University’s goals and operational clarity.
