Court Remands Suspect for Alleged Robbery of Three FUOYE Students
An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of a 34-year-old man, Anifowose Taoheeb, in Ado-Ekiti correctional center over charges of conspiracy and armed robbery.

The defendant, whose address was not disclosed, is facing trial for his alleged involvement in a robbery incident that occurred on February 15 at approximately 1:30 a.m. in Oye-Ekiti.
According to the Prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adejare, the defendant is accused of conspiring to rob Joy Ogunruku, Jecinta Ukali, and Daniel Ajibola, all students of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).
Adejare stated that the defendant's actions contravene Sections 314 and 312(2)(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Testifying in court, one of the victims, Joy Ogunruku, recounted the harrowing experience, stating that she and her friend Jecinta were accosted by three masked individuals, one of whom brandished a pistol and demanded their phones.
Despite their resistance, the assailants resorted to violence, resulting in injuries to the victims. However, with the assistance of other students, one of the suspects was apprehended.
The prosecutor requested the court to remand the defendant in a correctional center pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).The plea of the defendant was not taken during the court proceedings.

Chief Magistrate Bankole Oluwasanmi ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional center until legal advice is provided. The case has been adjourned until March 27 for further mention.
