Covenant University recently hosted a comprehensive one-day training workshop aimed at enhancing the efficiency of academic processes and empowering its leadership cadre. The workshop, themed ‘Driving Efficient Administration of Academic Processes at Covenant University,’ took place at the University’s Senate Chamber and gathered academic leaders, directors, and administrative heads.
The event, part of Covenant University’s ongoing efforts to streamline administrative processes ahead of the Omega Semester Examination, focused on equipping participants with essential skills and insights. It featured presentations by prominent university officials including Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Olujide A. Adekeye.
In his address titled ‘Implications of HoD Oversights and Capacity Building in a World-Class University,’ Professor Adebayo underscored the critical role of Heads of Departments (HoDs) in maintaining academic integrity, managing quality assurance, and fostering effective teaching practices. He emphasized the university’s commitment to upholding standards and addressing issues such as absenteeism and teaching quality.
Professor Adekeye, in his presentation on ‘The Psychological Impact of Poor Result Management,’ highlighted the detrimental effects of inadequate result processing on student well-being, urging academic leaders to prioritize efficient management practices.

The Registrar, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David, announced updates aimed at optimizing administrative roles to enhance faculty focus on research and academic excellence. These updates include empowering departmental officers with responsibilities such as lecture monitoring, class attendance management, and student compliance oversight.
Facilitators at the workshop included Professor Timothy A. Anake, Dean of the College of Science and Technology; Professor David O. Olukanni, Dean of the College of Engineering; Professor Ahzegbobor P. Aizebeokhai, Chair of the Analytics Committee; Professor Olubanke O. Ogunlana, Chair of the Quality Assurance and Academic Standards Committee (QAASC); Dr. Emmanuel O. Amoo, Director of the Academic Planning Unit; and Dr. Ada S. Peter, Director of the Center for Learning Resources.
The workshop concluded with a call for academic leaders to uphold high standards and ensure holistic student support, reflecting Covenant University’s commitment to excellence in education and administration.
