NUYOSS President Addresses NELFUND Students' Loan Payment Concerns at Federal University Gashua

Comrade Muhammed A. Adamu (Dr. Yafai), President of the National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS) Federal University Gashua Chapter, has taken action to address delays in the disbursement of Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) upkeep payments.

Federal University Gashua (FUGA) students under the National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS) have expressed concerns over delays in the disbursement of upkeep payments from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). Acting on these complaints, Comrade Muhammed A. Adamu (Dr. Yafai), President of NUYOSS Federal University Gashua Chapter, has taken proactive steps to address the matter.

In a communiqué released on November 20, 2024, Comrade Adamu detailed his efforts to resolve the issue. Leading a delegation comprising Secretary General Saleh Abdul Jarma, Financial Secretary Umar Ali, and Chief of Staff Yareema Hussaini Akale, the NUYOSS President met with the Students’ Welfare Officer at the Students’ Affairs Division of FUGA.

During the meeting, the Students’ Welfare Officer acknowledged the NUYOSS leadership’s dedication to student advocacy, commending them for extending their responsibilities beyond their union’s primary mandate. Discussions focused on the status of the NELFUND upkeep payments for FUGA students, a pressing concern for many.

In further pursuit of clarity, the NUYOSS team has scheduled a follow-up visit to the office of the ICT Director at FUGA. This visit aims to gather more information on the technical aspects affecting the disbursement of the funds.

Comrade Adamu reassured students of his commitment to resolving the issue, urging them to remain patient while steps are being taken to ensure the payments are processed. “We will provide updates on any developments regarding this issue. Thank you for your trust and confidence in my leadership,” he stated.

The President’s intervention underscores NUYOSS's commitment to prioritizing students' welfare and addressing pressing challenges affecting their academic journey.
