A final-year student of the Bola Ajibola College of Law, Crescent University, Abeokuta, Oyindamola Ologun, has emerged as the second-best performer in the 2026 edition of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Literary Competition.

According to Lieutenant Col. Jubril Olalekan Onipede of Army Headquarters, Department of Military Affairs, Ologun secured second position in the 2006 NADCEL Tertiary Institution Art Category.
“Your outstanding performance, creativity and dedication distinguished you among a highly competitive field of participants.
“This achievement is a testament to your talent and commitment to excellence,” Lt. Col. Onipede stated in a correspondence to Oyindamola Ologun.
Ologun was among the top ten shortlisted finalists. Her artwork, a 20 by 16 inch acrylic painting on canvas, earned her the award alongside a cash prize of five hundred thousand naira. The award ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 4th July, 2026, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as part of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Literary Competition was established to shape public culture, thought, and perception of the Nigerian Army.
In an interview, Ologun explained that her award-winning artwork titled “Bridging Hope” explores the humanitarian role of the Nigerian Army beyond combat operations.
“While many people often associate the military with warfare and security operations, this artwork highlights their commitment to serving and protecting civilians during times of hardship.
“In the painting, a male soldier works alongside a civilian to reinforce a temporary sandbag bridge, symbolizing cooperation, resilience, and the power of collective effort in overcoming challenges.
“Nearby, a female soldier assists an elderly woman across the floodwaters, reflecting compassion, protection, and care for the most vulnerable members of society.
“A young schoolboy is also depicted saluting the soldiers as he passes by, representing respect, trust, and hope for the future. Through these everyday acts of service, the artwork portrays the Nigerian Army as a source of support and reassurance in difficult times, making ‘Bridging Hope’ a symbol of unity, humanity, and hope,” she explained.

Receiving Ologun in his office, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, congratulated her on behalf of the management, noting that she has made the institution proud and joining the league of award winners in the Bola Ajibola College of Law of Crescent University.
