The partnership was announced during a working courtesy visit by a team from Delaware University to the Vice Chancellor's office.
Speaking, the team leader of Delaware State University, Dr. Samuel Besong, stated that Unical was chosen to facilitate the initiative due to its reputation and expertise.
"We are examining the issues hindering food security and seeking ways to enhance it by collaborating with local stakeholders who understand the environment and challenges," he said.
Dr. Besong emphasized the importance of involving students, citing them as future leaders and scientists.
He expressed his team's readiness to work together to find solutions for food security.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, welcomed the partnership, noting that the institution is interested in collaborating in various areas, including student exchange programmes that foster cross-border experiences.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Linkages and Collaborations, Prof. Peter C. Okafor, the Vice Chancellor stated, "We desire a balanced education for our children and nation, which can be achieved through collaboration with like-minded individuals interested in our growth and development."
The university administrator expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its potential to enhance the institution's growth and development.
