DELSU Enhances Academic Opportunities with CIBN Collaboration

Delta State University (DELSU) in Abraka is collaborating with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) to enhance students' employability through a new professional linkage program. During a visit from a CIBN delegation, Vice Chancellor Prof. Andy Egwunyenga highlighted the university's commitment to improving graduate quality.

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, is set to enhance the employability of its graduates through a new collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). During a recent visit by a CIBN delegation, Vice Chancellor Prof. Andy Egwunyenga emphasized the university's commitment to improving its students' industry readiness.

The CIBN team visited DELSU to assess the university's facilities in preparation for a professional linkage program aimed at benefiting students and staff in related disciplines. Prof. Egwunyenga, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Rosemary Ngozi Okoh, expressed gratitude to CIBN for their interest, reaffirming DELSU's goal to become Nigeria's leading state university by systematically enhancing graduate quality.

Barrister Charles Ojakovo, Chairman of CIBN Delta State Chapter, praised the initiative, highlighting its potential to bolster the university's infrastructure and provide significant benefits for students and staff. He assured DELSU of CIBN's full support in implementing the program, which aims to promote professional development for bankers across the state.

The technical team leader from CIBN, Scholastica Moemeke, noted that the institute is legally recognized for determining professional qualifications and regulations for bankers in Nigeria. She outlined the establishment of the Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers-Bachelor of Science (ACIB-BSc) linkage program. This initiative will allow undergraduate students in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, and related courses to pursue professional registration with CIBN at a reduced fee of five thousand naira, significantly lower than the standard fee of one hundred and fifty thousand naira for non-students.

The ceremony also included the participation of DELSU's Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Ochuko Anomohanran, Provost of Oleh Campus, Prof. Eloh Ibagere, and other key university officials.
