In a recent development, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwumeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), issued a stern warning on December 7, 2023, regarding anticipated disruptions in the University's Postgraduate programmes. The purpose of these disruptions is to fortify the quality of postgraduate education and ensure that graduating candidates meet the institution's high standards.

The announcement was made during an interactive session with Postgraduate students at the ETF Auditorium in the Igbariam Campus. Prof. Omenugha, after a comprehensive closed-door meeting with the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. M. N. Chendo, underscored the importance of addressing and enhancing the strengths of the institution through a focus on the quality of Postgraduate Students.

In a subsequent interview, Prof. Omenugha emphasized the significance of maintaining a balance between timely graduation and academic excellence. She cautioned against any abuse of established rules and stressed the need for a collective effort to adhere to the regulations of the Postgraduate School. The Acting Vice Chancellor commended the Postgraduate School for its efforts and called on faculties and departments to ensure compliance with established standards.

"We will never tolerate a situation where people abuse laid down rules for flimsy reasons. While dialoguing with professors on the 6th of December, We warned against the exploitation of students, and it is important to emphasize again that attention must be paid to quality," she asserted.

During her address to the students, Prof. Omenugha delved into the university's value system, vision, and mission. She urged students to familiarize themselves with the University Anthem, encouraging them to reflect on its lyrics to understand the essence of COOU. The Acting Vice Chancellor highlighted the institution's commitment to maintaining an uninterrupted academic calendar while addressing other areas of improvement.
