Prof. Florence Obi said this at the Council Chamber of the institution when she met with leaders of JCCF at the University.

She said that several students have complained about the unpleasant disturbances against their peace arising from the proliferation of religious programmes on campus, noting that, the loud prayers, singing, dancing, and clapping in the hostels and during church services on campus should be curtailed.According to her, these activities if not done with decorum, hinder the concentration of other students while studying, as well as, have adverse effects on their rest and sleep time.

She added that, everyone has a right to live, as such, students should not be disturbed while resting and deterred from studying, as it is their primary reason for being in the University.

Prof. Obi further informed JCCF that, consequent upon the complaint, the Management of the University has banned unapproved Church Worship Centers on campus, noting that, the Federal Government of Nigeria only recognizes two approved worship Centers, the Catholic and Protestant (Unical Chapel of Redemption) .She stated that only both worship centers and other approved campus fellowships will be allowed to operate on campus in line with the standing policy of the University.

Prof. Obi said a deadline notice of Sunday, 4th February 2024 has been issued for all others to hold their last services in their various churches.

This she said will give ample time to enable them to make alternative arrangements on where they will choose to worship afterwards.

She however advised the Student's Christian body to coordinate their members and other students to act with decency while praying and having fellowship, counselling them to serve God in an orderly manner, as God is orderly, and not a God of confusion.
