The Honorable Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Rev. Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, has pledged support for Gboko Polytechnic under Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration. This commitment was made during a courtesy visit from the Polytechnic’s management on Friday.

Rev. Ikyaan emphasized the importance of technical education, citing his own background in the field. He commended the Polytechnic's management for their contributions and pledged state government collaboration to enhance their educational mandate. "The state government is dedicated to advancing technical education," he affirmed.

Ikyaan highlighted that Gboko Polytechnic ranks highly according to preliminary reports he has received. He also mentioned an ongoing schools census, which will result in a publication to guide the public on reputable institutions and address illegal ones.

During the visit, Dr. Benjamin Achiatar, Proprietor of the Polytechnic and President of the Association of Private Polytechnics in Nigeria, along with Rector Engr. Hyacinth Abanyam, praised Governor Alia’s administration for its proactive steps since taking office. They discussed the Polytechnic’s efforts to provide technical education and proposed partnerships with the state for skill acquisition and training programs.

They suggested converting mechanic sites in each local government area into centers for agriculture, technology, and skills acquisition to drive industrialization and growth in the state.

Dr. Sylvester Igbudu, Coordinator of Skills Acquisition and Innovation at the Polytechnic, also accompanied the delegation. He praised the Proprietor’s extensive experience as a valuable asset for the state’s development.

Gboko Polytechnic is one of 82 private polytechnics accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and licensed by the Federal Ministry of Education to offer technical education in Nigeria.
