Ekiti City Polytechnic Seeks Strategic Academic Partnership with FUTES

 In a move to expand educational access and strengthen institutional capacity, the management of Ekiti City Polytechnic, Ilasha-Ekiti, has initiated a formal proposal for a strategic partnership with the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin-Ekiti.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Chief Bamisaye Ajayi, led a delegation to the university’s take-off site on Tuesday to present the proposal to the Vice-Chancellor of FUTES, Professor Gbenga Aribisala.

Chief Ajayi noted that the collaboration aims to align the polytechnic with the rapid growth and academic vision of FUTES. The proposed partnership focuses on key areas including:

Academic Affiliation Programmes: Creating seamless pathways for students transitioning from polytechnic diplomas to university degrees.

Joint Research & Capacity Building: Enhancing human capital development through shared resources.

Institutional Growth: Leveraging FUTES’ impressive structural and academic progress since its inception.

“This is a strategic step toward building a more responsive and integrated education system,” the Rector stated, praising FUTES for its steady development among newly established institutions.

FUTES Response: Quality Assurance and Process

Responding to the initiative, Professor Aribisala expressed interest in the proposal, noting that the proximity of Ilasha-Ekiti adds a strategic advantage to the potential collaboration. He reaffirmed the university’s openness to partnerships that promote excellence in research and community service.

However, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the university would adhere strictly to regulatory due process.

Senate Review: The proposal will be tabled at the next University Senate meeting.

Fact-Finding Mission: A committee may be established to visit Ekiti City Polytechnic to assess its facilities, staffing levels, and academic structures.

Governance Approval: Recommendations from the committee will be briefed to the Governing Council for final standards verification.

Professor Aribisala assured the Rector of a timely response, noting that despite being a new institution, FUTES operates with high efficiency. “There will be no delay from FUTES; our operations are fast and responsive,” he concluded.
