Parents and authorities of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure Ekiti, detailed the arduous journey to secure the release of five abducted pupils. The children were held for six days before their release on Sunday, following the payment of a N15 million ransom to the kidnappers.

Relatives of the victims revealed that the initial ransom demand was N100 million, which was later reduced to N15 million after negotiations. The victims, comprising five pupils, three teachers, and the bus driver, were abducted while returning home from school last Monday.
Their release coincided with the tragic killing of two Ekiti monarchs, further highlighting the insecurity in the region. Following their release, the victims received medical attention at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, with assurances from Governor Biodun Oyebanji that the perpetrators would be apprehended and brought to justice.

Meanwhile, police in Ekiti State have arrested one suspect linked to the killing of the two traditional rulers during the same period. The suspect confessed to involvement in the killings, with efforts ongoing to apprehend others involved.
