The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended eight suspected cult members from Ekiti State University (EKSU) following a distress call alerting authorities to potential violence on campus. The suspects, identified as mostly senior students, were captured by the Rapid Response Squad during a targeted operation. However, some members managed to evade arrest by firing shots at the police.

According to reports, recovered items from the scene include caps adorned with the insignia of the suspected cult group. This incident comes in the wake of heightened security concerns following recent violent activities linked to cultism in various Nigerian universities.
Recently, the Edo State Police Command made arrests related to a fatal attack involving cult members at Ambrose Alli University, underscoring the pervasive threat of cult violence in higher education institutions.
Authorities at Ekiti State University and the Ekiti State Police Command have intensified efforts to maintain peace and security on campus, emphasizing the zero-tolerance stance against cultism and related criminal activities.
The arrested suspects are currently in police custody undergoing interrogation, while investigations continue to uncover further details about their alleged involvement in cult-related activities.
