The management of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, has dismissed concerns over a viral video suggesting a security threat to the institution.

Dr. Bode Olofinmuagun, Head of EKSU’s Directorate of Information, stated in a release from Ado Ekiti that “the management wishes to reiterate that EKSU is safe and well secured as there is no cause for alarm.” The video, which circulated widely on social media, purportedly showed a suspected bandit threatening the university and another institution.

Olofinmuagun assured that the university, in collaboration with security agencies, has placed its Security Unit on red alert to prevent any potential breaches. He urged parents, guardians, staff, and students to remain calm.

In a related statement, the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi, also refuted reports of banditry in his community in Ekiti South-West Local Government Area. Through his media adviser, Chief Ajibade Olubunmi, Oba Alabi emphasised that “there are no bandits and no kidnappings in Ilawe Ekiti or on roads leading to the community.”

The monarch added that security agencies and local vigilantes continue to monitor all entry and exit points in Ilawe Ekiti, ensuring the safety of residents and visitors.
